Leitrim County Council has this week secured funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development under the Town and Village Accelerated Measure Round 1 Scheme. Five applications submitted by the County Council on behalf of Carrick on Shannon, Kinlough, Drumshanbo, Ballinamore and Manorhamilton communities were successful in their application when funding under the scheme was announce by Minister Heather Humphries earlier this week.
The Accelerated measures under Town and Village 2020 offers funding towards specific COVID -19 related measures for Towns and Village to support them in responding to difficulties as a result of the pandemic. The funding secured will support our local communities to come together taking account of social distancing requirements and also will increase footfall by encouraging people into our local towns and villages.
Welcoming the funding Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council Cllr. Mary Bohan, said “The funding secured for Manorhamilton, Kinlough, Drumshanbo, Carrick-on-Shannon and Ballinamore will help those towns and villages through the provision of solutions targeted at dealing with the challenges arising as a result of COVID-19. These measure will help to revitalise our towns and villages by making our towns attractive and welcoming places visit and will encourage increased footfall and promote economic activity.”

|Leitrim||Manorhamilton||Website development, purchase of Bike Shelters and enhanced signage & story boards.||€17,325.72|
|Leitrim||Drumshanbo||Pedestrianise & repurpose an area at the entrance to the ‘People’s Park’ on lower Main Street creating a renewed outdoor space enabling access between Main Street and the Peoples Park.||€22,500.00|
|Leitrim||Ballinamore||Shop front improvements, deep clean of public spaces, seating, planting and signage.||€25,000.00|
